Artur Mas highlights the model represented by the Girbau Group as a driving force in the catalan economy

On Thursday the President of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Artur Mas, visited the Girbau company in Vic, world leader in the manufacture of machinery for laundries, coinciding with the closing ceremony of the 2012 International Workshop Event.

The Chief Executive toured the facilities, where among other things he was able to see the production line
for the new Ecodryer ED  dryers, which has been launched this week, as well as the recent investment in machinery to increase production capacity in the robotic sheet-metal section and the showroom area.

The President of the Generalitat then presided over the closing ceremony of the international conference, during which he described Girbau as a company that knows how to innovate and grow in a difficult
economic environment, and held it up as an example to follow. "Girbau represents the very best of the economic structure of our country: an industrial company with a traditional  family base, yet at the same time innovative, connected with the university and open to foreign markets, "said Artur Mas.

According to the chief executive, "despite the difficult times, Girbau is creating, researching and innovating; creating new jobs both here and abroad, and this combination of motivation and way of doing things is very significant."

During the closing ceremony, the Girbau Group’s co-presidents also addressed those present. Pere Girbau explained that the key to Girbau’s success is “investing in projects over the long term and remaining loyal to the way we are. Not only are we convinced that what we do is relevant, but also that we have to be very careful how we do things”. Mercè Girbau added that our passion is to be close to the customers, to understand their concerns, their businesses, their needs, and be able to help them improve, and grow with them throughout the world, while benefiting from the geographical diversity that this implies.”

She also pointed out the company’s future lines and insisted that they are optimistic, and are: "working to strengthen the sales network worldwide, looking ahead and working hard to prepare ourselves for the future. In order to achieve this, our competitive advantage is our professional team, our people. "

Also participating in the event was the Mayor of Vic, Josep Maria Vila d'Abadal, who described Girbau as  "a good example of a family business that has managed to expand to become one of the largest business groups today, knowing how to exploit the combination of two very different values to its advantage:
the international and the local
."  On behalf of Girbau, the vicepresident of Marketing, Sales & Services, Toni Rubiés, and the international sales director Jordi Bosch, also spoke at the event, which the Chairman Pere Girbau, brought to a close.

The territorial delegate for the Generalitat in Central Catalonia, Jordi Moltó; the Member of the Catalan Parliament Ramon Espadaler; the director of the Regional Enterprise and Employment Services in Central Catalonia, Bàrbara Minoves; the Chairman of the Vic District Council, Joan Roca, and the chairman of the Osona branch of the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce, Josep Pujades, also attended the event’s closing session.

International Workshop Event

The 2012 International Workshop Event brought clients, consultants and manufacturers of laundry chemicals in Europe, North Africa and South Africa together for three days at the Group’s headquarters. Some 120 people from 29 countries participated. The meeting included open days at the three production centres that Girbau has in Vic, where participants were able to learn about the company’s new products and participate in training sessions and specific workshops. The meeting aims to strengthen the Girbau Group’s strategy and
create a meeting point to foster relationships between dealers - a key factor in Girbau’s internationalisation.
