Girbau Group sponsored one of the prizes at the second edition of the First Lego League, an international robotics competition aimed at groups of young people aged from 10 to 16 and organised by the University of Vic (Barcelona) on 9th February this year. Girbau supported the competition by sponsoring the prize for a scientific project, which was won by the team La Farga from Sant Cugat.

The big winners in the competition were the team The Santperencs 4G, from Sant Pere de Torelló (Barcelona), who earned a place in the Spanish finals on 23rd March in Barcelona, where they will also be joined by the runners-up, AH robots of Badalona.

The First Lego League is an international robotics competition in which the competing teams have to design, build and programme robots using pieces of Lego on the basis of the proposed theme, which this year was "Nature’s fury" (innovative solutions to prevent and/or mitigate the consequences arising from natural disasters). In addition to the competition, the teams also have to display a scientific project related to the theme proposed.

A total of 19 teams from Barcelona, Badalona, Montcada i Reixach, Sant Cugat, Granollers, Manresa, Girona, Vic, Tona, Gurb, Manlleu and Sant Pere de Torelló took part in this second edition of the competition. Alongside the competition, 23 teams of boys and girls aged from 6 to 9 took part in the Junior First Lego League, which promotes the values of creativity, innovation, enterprise and team spirit among children.
