Professionals from the laundry sector from all over the Americas came together at the Hotel Iberostar Cancún in Mexico from 14th to 16th March at the third Girbau Group America Convention. Under the slogan “New segments, more business,” the company presented its new products and advances in laundry technology to those present.
The aim was to provide a chance for representatives of all the sectors the group works in (hospital, hotel laundries, vended launderettes, wet cleaning and so on) to meet and pool their knowledge and experience.
In this context, one of the main focuses of interest was the exhibition of success stories presented by customers, heads of distributors and subsidiaries, and the presentations by group management.
For the Sales, marketing and service vice-president of the Girbau group, Toni Rubiés, the event in Cancún “yielded information that will enable us to step up to a new level and adapt to our new setting.” According to Rubiés, “projects that achieve the impossible” were presented at the sessions, offering a host of solutions to customers’ needs to allow them to grow.
For his part, the Export vice-president, Santi Carol, said he was “highly satisfied because for the first time we have brought together all the Americas, including Cuba and Nicaragua.”
After the convention, the President of the group, Mercè Girbau, said she was “very proud of the great team made up of Girbau people, distributors and customers, and stressed the importance of holding sharing events like these”. For Mercè Girbau, “We have shown that we’re one big family, and that our slogan ‘Growing together’ is truer than ever.”
During the convention awards were given to Rafael de Marco, of Girbau Brasil, for opening up a new segment on oil rigs; to Rick Rone of Laundry Plus, as best customer in the United States in 2013; to Lídia Iris González, of Mintur-Cuba, for loyalty to the group, and to José Ramón Murillo, of the Hotel Barceló Rivera Maya, for his 20-year career in laundries together with Girbau.
The event ended with a lunch at the Hotel Barceló Riviera Maya and a visit to the establishment’s laundry, equipped entirely with Girbau machinery. The laundry processes 25 tonnes of linen a day, and has two full batch washing systems, two ironing systems, valet and two FT-Maxi towel folders.
