Girbau Group backs a new edition of the Innovacat awards

Girbau Group is once again backing this year’s Innovacat awards, a public and private initiative to foster innovation and growth in local businesses, which reaches its fifth edition this year.

Girbau is one of the six companies with their headquarters in the Osona area which, together with Manlleu town council’s economic development office, make these awards possible. Their goal is to build up and stimulate the economic and industrial fabric in the area, aware that this is the best way to remain competitive and generate skilled jobs.

The Innovacat awards are organised every two years and are divided into two categories: first of these is the “Empresa Avança (Company advances)award, for innovative companies which have been in business for more than 5 years and stand out for their record and their ability to adapt to changes and new opportunities. Second is the “Empresa Jove (Young company)” award, aimed at recently-created firms with up to 5 years in business which have proven a high capacity for expansion, growth, innovation and opening up to new projects.

These awards are complemented with the “Viatge Innovacat (Innovacat trip) prize for the above two categories, consisting of a tailor-made trip for the winning firm, to find out about the most important trends in their sector and foster their growth. 5 special prizes are also awarded, consisting of hours of personalised business advice.

The Girbau operations director, Jordi Aulí, spoke at the prize-giving on 11th February in Gurb (Osona, Barcelona), stating that most of the winning companies in previous years “are now strong, consolidated businesses, something that benefits the region and the other companies that form part of it.”

The President of the group, Pere Girbau, is a member of the jury for the awards. Once the call for entries has been made, the jury’s verdict will not be made public until the prize-giving event, planned to take place in early July.
