Girbau sponsors the first edition of the First Tech Challenge in Spain

The First Tech Challenge robotics event is being held in Spain for the first time with the support of Girbau and the University of Vic; it enables young people aged 16 to 20 to compete in teams to design and build robots able to pass different tests.

The First Tech Challenge is the natural continuation of other robotics competitions such as the First Lego League and the First Lego League Junior and represents a multi-disciplinary challenge to work in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) subject areas.

This year, the First Tech Challenge test will be Rover Ruckus, representing an imaginary journey into space to explore unknown planets. The robots, autonomous and operated by their controllers, must complete a series of missions and tasks in a square area measuring 3.66 metres along each side.

The deadline for entries is next November, ten weeks before the national First Tech Challenge competition, which is to take place in March.
