The company’s new internal sustainability currency helps integrate emissions reduction into business decisions and accelerate the decarbonization of customer operations.
Girbau has developed G-Seeds, an internal tool that translates CO₂ equivalent emissions into a common unit of measurement, enabling sustainability to be incorporated into decision-making across the organization.
Through this system, teams across different departments can assess and compare the environmental impact of decisions related to product development, supplier selection, procurement, and the commercialization of more efficient solutions, making sustainability a tangible business criterion. Together with other company initiatives, G-Seeds has contributed to a 33% reduction in Scope 3 emissions compared to 2023 levels.
The project has been recognized by ESADE Busines School as a case study for successfully embedding sustainability into business management and, this year, Girbau was also awarded the EcoVadis Gold Medal, placing the company among the top 4% of businesses worldwide for sustainability performance while continuing to advance toward its goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2030.
