Many businesses need to ensure that the washing of the linen they use in their work is impeccable. This is very important if we are talking about, for example, hotels and restaurants, where the image of both staff and sheets, towels, tablecloths, napkins and such like are so important. Likewise, whether in a care home, a gym, a beauty centre or country holiday accommodation, the finish of their linen represents added value, something to pay special attention to and calling for special monitoring and management to make sure they have the necessary linen to hand at all times. Any problem in the laundry at any of these establishments can have a direct impact on the impression they make on their clients. Cleanliness as a basic factor in maintenance
Cleanliness is the first and most important factor to bear in mind when talking about maintenance. This means dryers and washing machines, as well as the rest of your equipment, must be kept clean at all times. There are some points regarding each machine to which particular attention should be paid. For example, in washing machines it is important to clean the door seals every day to make sure they are watertight and avoid any leaks, and to clean the water inlet filters regularly to make sure the flow is correct and so avoid taking longer to fill the drum. Also, for machines with a manual soap drawer, regular cleaning will prevent any clogging and the formation of mould.
For dryers the lint filters must be cleaned frequently, as should all the outlet pipes and the blades of the turbines. The latter is also true for ironers, as it ensures a better air current and therefore gives a shorter drying cycle and less accumulation of damp.
It is also advisable to keep the area around any machine clean and clear, to avoid sources of damp and dirt building up, as in the long term these can cause rusting of electronic components, unprotected metal parts and so on.

Safety as a risk prevention factor
Another point to bear in mind when talking about maintenance is safety. The parts and features of the machines must be checked regularly in this respect to ensure they work without any problems and are ready or working to ensure the safety of the operators or users who handle them. This means that in the case of dryers and washing machines both the emergency stop and safe door opening must be checked on a weekly basis. In the case of ironers, safety checks include checking the hand guards every day.
