While the TBB60 is the project’s main milestone, the solution developed for Lavadero Berazategui takes a broader view of the plant.

The project includes solutions aimed at improving washing capacity, finishing processes, and internal logistics. It also involved engineering work, layout analysis, equipment relocation, and process integration to help the plant operate in a more coordinated, efficient way.

Making this new configuration possible required significant operational and layout interventions. These included relocating the finishing lines, moving the barrier washers, and removing existing equipment to optimize workflow and make better use of available space.

These interventions helped prepare the plant for the integration of the new solutions, improving the connection between the different stages of the process and creating a more efficient structure, ready for future expansions.​

One of the project’s main expected impacts is the optimization of internal workflows. The plant’s new configuration was designed to bring washing, drying, finishing, and ironing processes closer together, reducing unnecessary movement and enabling a more efficient operation.

The addition of new unloading points will allow processed linen to be distributed more strategically throughout the plant. As a result, a significant share of production can be sent directly to the finishing and ironing areas, minimizing the use of carts, reducing manual handling, and improving coordination between processes.

The increase in capacity responds to a concrete need among clients whose operations depend on service continuity. The plant primarily serves healthcare institutions, a sector where reliability and operational continuity are critical. The new configuration allows the laundry to meet that demand with greater production scale, reliability, and responsiveness.

The integration of new conveying and automation systems will also help reduce potential operational bottlenecks, improve the reliability of the operation, and optimize the use of available resources.

Beyond addressing current production needs, the project was designed with a long-term vision. The plant’s configuration allows for future expansions, making it possible to add new equipment and scale up operational capacity as the business grows over the coming years.

The leap in capacity is concrete: the previous TBS50 tunnel washer processed 15 tons a day, while the new TBB60 has a nominal capacity of 1,300 kg/h and an operational target of 30 tons a day. This doubles tunnel-washing capacity and represents, across the plant as a whole, an estimated 40% increase in Lavadero Berazategui’s total production capacity, along with a projected improvement of up to 50% in certain productivity and efficiency indicators compared with the previous setup.

This expansion also coincides with a symbolic moment for the company: in 2026, Lavadero Berazategui marks 39 years since its founding in 1987, celebrating the milestone with the reopening of its expanded plant. Nearly four decades of sustained growth now come together in an operation with greater capacity, efficiency, and readiness for a new stage of development.

Given the scale of the transformation — which includes the addition of a new tunnel washer and other equipment, a redesigned layout, and a complete overhaul of workflows — Lavadero Berazategui considers this stage a full reopening of its plant.
